New 3D Scanner at #AU2016

Posted by Gannon Wilder on 11/8/16 3:15 PM

Paracosm is headed to Las Vegas once again for this year’s Autodesk University where we’ll be giving attendees a first glance of our new handheld 3D scanner, the PX-80. With an 80m range, this unit can be opperated by a single person in as much time as it takes to walk through a site.

Since it's mobile, the scanner isn't limited to a fixed line-of-sightresulting in better, faster coverage with zero setups. In serveal tests, our scanner proved ~12xs faster than traditional tripod-based laser scanners.

The ease of use and speediness of data collection with our system enables construction teams to 3D scan projects daily, weekly, or as often as needed. Colored point cloud data is helpful for verifying work installed, monitoring worksite productivity, and ensuring that what’s being built matches the BIM design intention.

If you'll be at AU and wish to see this for yourself, we’ll be performing a live 3D scanning demo and talking about reality capture workflows at the Autodesk ReCap Theater in booth #2033 on Wednesday, November 16th at 12:30AM.
